HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2014 is going to be an exciting new year for the German Shorthaired Pointers of New Mexico!
We have come a long way since November of 2012, when we first received our Non profit status!   Since then, we have been responsible for the rescue of many GSPs, either directly through our rescue or through networking with other rescuers and friends.
As always, given the nature of the sporting breed that our GSPs are, we have the persistent increase in numbers of GSPs showing up lost or in shelters during the hunting seasons.  As an additional consequence, during these tough economic times, we are facing unprecedented challenges with the large numbers of pets being surrendered to shelters or left abandoned when people have been forced to move.  These are the main issues we are seeing with increasing numbers of GSPs needing rescue.
Here in New Mexico, we are fortunate to have friends of rescue who are also responsible breeders/fanciers of GSPs.  We are grateful to them for their continued support of our rescue efforts.  We especially thank Dave Schneider of the Albuquerque Yucca GSP Club and Phyllis McNall of Singletrak GSPs and Mesilla Valley Kennel Club. They have contributed to rescue through networking, transporting, providing home visits and back-up support for adopters, and have provided us with opportunities to participate in events where we can help to educate and spread the good word about rescue.  Their diligent defense of the GSP and great breeding/showing ethics are what help to keep our breed the very best!  Their continued friendship and support is cherished.
In an effort to help GSPs in New Mexico, we are collaborating with other rescue organizations to ensure their continued rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing in other areas where there are larger populations looking to adopt rescued GSPs.  We are especially grateful to Rocky Mountain GSP Rescue of Colorado for their sister-ship and assistance in placing some of our rescued dogs.
In 2014 we will be launching new efforts to recruit foster homes and volunteers.  We currently have a few very dedicated and over-worked volunteers and foster homes.  In order to continue to make a difference for abandoned GSPs, we must have more support.  We will also be adding new members to our Board of Directors to help expand our pool of resources.  Many exciting new changes to be announced!
We have forged several new friendships with shelters in New Mexico and now have some great liaisons!  We have also continued our connections to other, non-GSP rescuers who are always such a huge help and resource for us when assistance is needed in areas where we have none of our own volunteers.
During the past year, we are grateful to all the supporters, volunteers, foster homes, vets, shelters and ACOs, adopters and net-workers who helped to make this year a success.
For the New Year, we are looking forward to continued growth and look forward to adding more friends to our growing list of volunteers, foster homes, fans and adopters!

If you still need to do any year end giving, please consider contributing by making a year-end tax deductible donation on or before December 31, 2013!
Our success depends on the volunteer work and monetary contributions that fuel our efforts in rescuing, re-habbing and re-homing the homeless GSPs of New Mexico.
Your contribution is invaluable to supporting homeless GSPs in 2014!
